"Closet" Nicolás Almazán
Closet by Nicolás Almazán
I’ve always been drawn to what I call random treasures — things that appear almost anywhere. That’s why I share them compulsively on Instagram, always in my hand — small fragments I need to hold, keep, and preserve. My feed is an extensive archive of kitsch perfumes, flea market finds, shiny trash — things that somehow become precious once framed in my hand. Always the same format, always the same gesture: my open hand as a pedestal, turning my finds into fine jewels. Depending on who looks, it’s a collection of cool trash or simply trash.
Am I a kitsch columnist? An obsessive bazaar fetishist? Maybe both. But when it comes to clothes, the logic is the same — only this time the object in my hand is me. Dressed up, I become a random treasure: a Labubu doll or a souvenir sticker toy in heels. Each look is more about staging myself as another collectible, a collage of humor and absurdity.
Just as I collect objects, I also collect references — fragments from everything around me that I gather and archive. This impulse shapes the way I work as a creative researcher in fashion and beauty: translating what I find into concepts and analyses of digital culture and internet trends. It’s the same gesture as my Instagram feed, but applied to storytelling strategies: assembling details, textures, and shifts to connect with the moment and open new ways of seeing. Always rooted in the same fascination with the archive and the unexpected.
