For centuries, the witch has embodied everything society sought to fear and control in women: independence, desire, intuition and defiance. In WITCH, photographer Harley Weir and designer Dilara Findikoglu reclaim this figure as a symbol of feminine power and freedom. Travelling across eight cities and villages in Romania, the duo encounter women and practising witches, including Mihaela Minca and her daughters, exploring the enduring relationship between womanhood, spirituality and nature.

Through Weir’s intimate photography and Findikoglu’s provocative designs, traditional folklore meets contemporary femininity in a visual narrative that challenges historical perceptions of witchcraft and celebrates the women who refuse to conform.

Published by IDEA, WITCH is a 208-page photobook, available in a limited edition of 500 copies.
