Paloma Maisonet visiting David Hammons @ Hauser & Wirth
Enjoy Paloma Maisonet's retrospective review of the David Hammons exhibition at Hauser & Wirth, his first in Los Angeles in 45 years, dedicated to jazz musician Ornette Coleman.
Generally, I don’t find myself drawn to art and don’t feel the need to like art, but the humor and humility of this show really tooted my horn.
One of my favorite works in this show was the series of photos that show him getting a rock a haircut. Another piece I enjoyed a lot was the melted snowball, also 10/10. It was too bad that guy in the email didn’t have much use for a melted snowball.
‘Follow the idea, not the sound.’
