"Going Back to a Place of Lost Memory" follows three young women returning to their former elementary school, a space marked by the memories that first shaped their relationship to themselves.
What becomes possible through return?
By moving through this space collectively, the three women create the conditions for a different encounter with memory. Their shared presence transforms the school into a space of reinhabitation. Through conversation, play, and collective remembrance, they begin to inscribe new meanings onto familiar places.
What emerges is not the recovery of an original, coherent self, but the possibility of reclaiming one’s history through connection.
If identity is not something we can freely build, but is something imposed, violated and unstable from the start, it can still be reinhabited, reinterpreted, and reshaped.
The project approaches memory as a form of resistance: a way of confronting inherited narratives while creating new memories within the very spaces that once felt closed off.
In this sense, the return is not about finding definitive answers, but about discovering that confusion can coexist with growth, and that revisiting what once unsettled us can open the possibility of becoming more present to ourselves.
