David Carson for Novembre & the Skateroom

For Issue 17 of Novembre, American designer and artist David Carson created a series of original collages responding to ethereal poems by long-time Novembre collaborator, writer Dan Hoy. Working intuitively with the text, Carson extended his singular visual language into a set of particular compositions that move between poetry and image.

These works took a new form in the context of a collaboration with THE SKATEROOM, which adapted Carson’s collages into a collection of skate decks and collectible objects. The project carries the spirit of the original exchange between word and image back into a new physical form - where Carson’s restless compositions continue to circulate between print, object, and movement.
